Recent Adventures

This weekend, both the Raptors and Sloths came together for an unforgettable camp at Skreens Activity Centre – packed with teamwork, adventure, and plenty of laughs along the way 😄

Friday evening kicked things off in true camp style, with burgers and sausages for tea 🍔🌭 followed by a relaxed campfire 🔥. As darkness fell, everyone headed out on a night walk around the lake 🌙🌲, taking in the sights and sounds of the outdoors after sunset – a great way to start the weekend.

Saturday was a full-on day of activity and challenge 💪. In the morning, the Raptors and Sloths worked together to construct three hammocks using poles, rope, and even clingfilm, finished off with tarpaulin covers 🪢🛠️. Six brave individuals put their creations to the test and spent the night sleeping in them! 😬

After lunch, the groups took on a pioneering challenge 🏗️. Split into three teams (including one made up of leaders), they designed and built a range of impressive structures – including a tower with a ladder, a working shower 🚿, and a wagon. The creativity and teamwork on display were fantastic to see 👏

For the evening meal, two groups stepped up to cook their own dinners 🍳, having pre-planned and ordered their ingredients. The results were brilliant: one group created a hearty sausage, bacon and tomato pasta topped with cheese 🧀, while the other served up marinated chicken in soy sauce with rice 🍗🍚. After dinner, the group headed out on another night hike before gathering once more around the campfire 🔥 to round off the day.

After a night (for some!) sleeping on clingfilm 😴, Sunday morning arrived and it was time to pack up camp and head home – back to real beds and solid roofs 🏠

It was an amazing weekend bringing young people together from both groups, building friendships 🤝, learning new skills, and making lasting memories 🌟. A huge thank you goes to all the leaders from both the Sloths and Raptors who made the event possible 🙌
